You are given five clues. Find a sixth word that forms a different expression with each one. The puzzles are grouped into three levels, with 20 in each.
Choose a level
- 20 easy puzzles — Familiar words and everyday expressions to get you started.
- 20 medium puzzles — Look for words that change meaning across everyday phrases and idioms.
- 20 hard puzzles — Connect clues from different fields, using precise expressions even when the link is less obvious.
How to play
- Read all five clues. Look for one word that can pair with each clue in a familiar phrase, a compound or an idiom.
- Say the five full expressions. The missing word can come before or after a clue, with other words in between, and can have a different meaning in each expression.
- Reveal the answer only when you are ready. Each solution shows the shared word and the five expressions that connect it to the clues.
Look for expressions, not just a shared theme
Try ICE. BREAK gives “break the ice”; DRY gives “dry ice”. Each pair forms a recognisable expression. ICE and WINTER, by contrast, are not a match simply because both suggest cold weather.
If a word fits four clues, you still need to check the fifth. It may point to a meaning you have not considered. If you find a different answer, test it by the same rule: all five links must form recognisable expressions.
The wordplay is adapted to English, so some clues or answers differ from the Italian edition.
